I Work for Kids

About Me

Name: I Work for Kids
Location: CA, United States

Not only do I work with kids, I am a parent of four. I currently work as the Curriculum Specialist at a local preschool. I also teach in what we call the "Project Room." The project room is Reggio Emilia influenced. It is meant to run much like an "Atelier". It is exciting to work with staff and find ways to continually allow the kids to create and explore. By following their lead, and our knowledge of emergent curriculum, we are able to provide materials for each child to move from idea, to process, to product. Although their product may not be our idea of what an "art project" should look like, it is the child's idea which is much more valuable. My goal with this blog is to share what is happening at our school, explore interesting activities I find at other schools, as well as activities and ideas created by my own children. I think by networking and sharing with one another it adds to our common goal which is creating environments and opportunities for children which will pave the path for their entire lifetime. Many early childhood teachers today do not have a grasp on how important their role is to a child, and it is my hope to see that change.
